Independent member of the Northwest Hospital Alliance
The Northwest Hospital Alliance serves as a collaborative network to assist our members in offering high-quality, cost-effective health care in our communities.
The Alliance is organized to ensure each hospital’s autonomy while providing support to address changes in the healthcare environment. The network relationship’s cornerstone is preserving community hospital independence and economic strength.
Currently, the Northwest Hospital Alliance includes five independent hospitals: Benewah Community Hospital (St. Maries), Bonner General Health (Sandpoint), Boundary Community Hospital (Bonners Ferry), Kootenai Health (Coeur d’Alene) and Shoshone Medical Center (Kellogg), with room to grow in the future.
In its role as a facilitator, the Northwest Hospital Alliance is devoted to improving the health status of our member communities by providing a shared approach to regional healthcare access and delivery through coordinating strategies, synergies, relationships, products, and services, while controlling the cost and maintaining the economic strength of local providers. Healthcare in rural communities is an absolutely essential component of the quality of life for rural residents.
Accreditation from DNV GL
DNV GL’s accreditation program, called NIAHO® (National Integrated Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), involves annual hospital surveys and encourages hospitals to openly share information across departments and to discover improvements in clinical workflows and safety protocols.
Within healthcare, DNV – GL helps hospitals achieve excellence by improving quality and patient safety through hospital accreditation, managing infection risk, management system certification and training. DNV GL’s accreditation program is the only one to integrate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation (COP).
By earning accreditation, Boundary Community Hospital has demonstrated it meets or exceeds patient safety standards (COP) set forth by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The DNV GL program is consistent with our long-term commitment to quality and patient safety. The ability to integrate ISO 9001 quality standards with our clinical and financial processes is a major step forward.
