DRIVE UP LAB TESTING

Phlebotomist Tenaya Hergert says drive up lab testing is an excellent option for those that are immune-compromised or that struggle with mobility issues.

The lab techs have always offered to assist patients at their vehicles if that was what the patient requested. With concerns from the community about entering the facility, the Lab team instituted Drive Up Lab Testing for routine testing. Curbside lab testing is ideal for those that struggle with mobility issues or are immune-compromised.

Monday through Friday
8:00 am to 3:00 pm
Patients may park in one of the designated parking spots by Outpatient Services and call the number to register. A lab tech will come out and take the needed samples curbside. Patients may also opt to walk in if they prefer.

Laboratory testing is available through the Emergency Room and Acute Care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Due to staffing and supply issues, August 3 through August 7 Boundary Community Hospital Clinical Medical Laboratory will need to limit the number of Outpatient COVID-19 tests to 10 per day.

Since all testing requires provider orders AND pre-registration, all COVID-19 tests will require SAME DAY PRE-REGISTRATION for 10 Patients Only. Once the limit has been reached, the Pre-Registration line will be closed until the next day.

COVID-19 TESTING

The BCH Lab continues to require authorization by primary care providers following the CDC and Idaho Department of Health and Welfare guidelines.  A copy of the provider lab order must be faxed to the lab by the provider before a patient can be tested.

Effective September 1, 2020

Clinical Medical Laboratory Testing

Clinical laboratory testing plays a crucial role in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.

Boundary Community Hospital houses its own full-service, Idaho-licensed, inspected and accredited Clinical Medical Laboratory. Diagnostic laboratory testing is performed by our highly-qualified, certified Medical Laboratory Scientists. They look for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms; analyze the chemical content of fluids; match blood for transfusions; and test for drug levels in the blood that show how a patient is responding to treatment while utilizing state-of-the-art analyzers, all with computer integration and interlinked computer communications with other health care facilities and our reference lab. Test results are sent directly to your physician.

Laboratory tests provide a virtual “snapshot” of a patient’s health status at any given time. It is estimated that about 60 to 80 percent of physicians’ diagnoses result from a lab test; all decisions regarding a patient’s diagnosis, treatment, hospital admission and discharge are influenced by laboratory test results.

Medical Laboratory Scientists carry out your physician’s orders for laboratory testing. If testing cannot be completed by Boundary Community Hospital, the specimen is drawn, prepared, ordered and sent out to our Reference Lab at no additional cost to the patient.

Boundary Community Hospital’s Lab provides personalized interaction. To the Boundary Community Hospital lab, you are not just a number. You are our friends and neighbors. We realize that each specimen and result is a part of you and affects our friends and neighbors’ lives. We are committed and look forward to keeping the community healthy and well-served. We care!
